Parish records are often a great source of information for genealogists. Baptisms, funerals and marriages are all recorded within the church and often contain vitally important information such as parents names and where the family were living. Just knowing a street name can often save time when looking through census information.
The parish of Holy Cross and St Mary’s Lowe House holds records dating back to the 18th century covering the 3 Catholic churches of St Helens town centre, namely Holy Cross and St Helen, St Mary’s, Lowe House and Sacred Heart (now closed).

Copies of the church register featuring any information found is available for a small donation. We do not charge for the searches.
When requesting information it would assist us if you could provide as much information as possible about family members you are searching for. Although it may not always be possible to provide you with information we will try our best to assist you in your search.
St Mary’s Lowe House also features numerous marble plaques that name those from the parish who died in WW1 and WW2. There are also founders plaques which feature names and, in some cases, familial relationships.
