Gala Barbecue & Carillon Recital—On Saturday 2nd August at 2.30pm. The recital will be given by Gerald Martindale, the resident Carillonneur at the Metropolitan United Church, Toronto, Canada. Why not come along and spend a few relaxing hours in our parish gardens, with refreshments and wine included. Tickets, costing £5, are available from the parish office—(01744) 22077.
Prayer for Vocations will be held on Friday August 1st at the Carmelite Monastery, Green Lane, Eccleston from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Everyone is welcome to call in and pray for vocations before the Blessed Sacrament during the above time.
The next Mothers Prayers Group meeting will be held on Wednesday 13th August at 7.30pm in Holy Cross parish hall. There will be no meetings till then due to holidays.
Many thanks to all who came to the Legion of Mary Holy Hour on Wednesday (16th). The next one will take place on Friday 15th August from 11.00am onwards at Holy Cross Church. All are welcome to come and pray for the success of the Legion projects of 2008.
Right to Life—Croagh Patrick Sponsored Climb. Right to Life, the leading political pressure group fighting for respect for human life from conception to natural death, is constantly hampered by lack of funds. Maria Overend, RTL North West (St Helens) and a parishioner of St Mary’s, Blackbrook, is joining the National Pilgrimage and climbing Croagh Patrick in the West of Ireland on 27th July to raise urgently needed funds. There is a list at the back of church to sign if you wish to sponsor Marie. Please be
generous in your support.
Nugent Care— If you have any foreign currency, including Euros, you can hand it in to the parish office.

GARDEN FETE
The Garden Fete will take place at Lowe House on Saturday, 9th August.
Programmes are now on sale in the churches, price 50p. You can enter the draw to win £25.
Raffles—tickets will be on sale from next week. One raffle is to win a signed Saints shirt and the other has many prizes including a CD player, Coffee maker and many others.
Volunteers are still needed. If you can help in any way, please inform the parish office, or sign the list at the back of church.
Remember, we still need bottles/toys/ gifts/toiletries. No clothes or rubbish.
All donations can also be handed in at the parish office at any time or we can arrange collection if you are having difficulties bringing items in.
Can you bake? We will need plenty of cakes, so please let us know if you can help.
There will be a meeting on Wednesday 23rd July at 7.00pm in Lowe House parish hall for all those who are able to help in any way. Please come along and give your support.
International Mass—14th September-We are still looking for representatives from all the different nationalities to join in the organising and preparation of the Mass. If interested, please speak to Fr. Paul.
Elizabeth Prout—On Tuesday 29th July there will be a special mass at 7.00pm at St Anne & Blessed Dominic, Monastery Lane. This mass will be in honour of Elizabeth Prout, foundress of the Sisters of the Cross and Passion and will be celebrated by Archbishop Kelly. The mass is part of the process towards her canonisation and is essential for its continuation. There will be no mass at Lowe House on that date. Booklets on the lives of Elizabeth Prout, Blessed Dominic Barberi and Ignatius Spencer are available at both churches.
Lourdes Archdiocesan Pilgrimage—Today (Friday) the St Helens youth left Lowe House after Mass to start their journey to Lourdes. They will join the Liverpool Archdiocesan Pilgrimage which will be there next week. Please remember in your prayers all those who are sick and all those who are going to look after them during their stay.
